What Zebra TC52x end of sale means for your operation
On October 31, 2025, Zebra Technologies formally discontinued the TC52x mobile computer:
- No new TC52x units are being manufactured or sold by Zebra
- Manufacturer service and support (Zebra OneCare) continues until December 31, 2029
- After December 2029, all manufacturer repair and support ends
- Refurbished and secondary market TC52x supply will shrink over time
Red Barcode Planet repairs TC52x mobile computers regardless of warranty status, OneCare enrollment, or device age. 48-hour average turnaround on single devices and small batches. Every repair carries a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.
Common TC52x repairs after end of sale
Screen and display replacement — from $210
The TC52x display is the most frequently damaged component. Drop damage cracks the glass and digitizer. Touch failure — where the screen displays but does not respond — is a common digitizer fault. Screen replacement restores full touch functionality.
Battery replacement — from $143
TC52x batteries degrade with charge cycles. A battery delivering a full shift in year one may deliver half a shift by year four. In high-cycle environments running multiple shifts, battery replacement is the most common maintenance repair.
Scan engine repair — from $209
The TC52x uses Zebra's SE4710 or SE4100 2D imager depending on configuration. Scan engine failure is most common after significant drop damage or in high-scan-volume environments. We repair and replace SE4710 and SE4100 scan engines.
Trigger repair — from $99
High-frequency trigger actuation wears the trigger mechanism over time. Cracked triggers from drop impact and worn trigger buttons are both repairable.
WiFi and connectivity repair — from $324
TC52x devices that drop off the warehouse network, fail to authenticate, or show intermittent connectivity often have radio module faults or antenna damage from drops.
Housing and drop damage — from $186
End-of-sale devices often have years of accumulated wear. Cracked housings, damaged port covers, and worn rubber overmolds are all repairable and extend device working life.
Firmware and software — from $123
After Android OS updates, some TC52x devices develop boot loops, configuration issues, or WMS connectivity problems. Firmware and software repair resolves these without hardware replacement.

Is repairing your TC52x worth it after end of sale?
A new Zebra TC52 (current successor) costs approximately $900–$1,100. Refurbished TC52x supply is shrinking as end-of-sale removes new inventory from the channel.

Frequently asked questions
Can you repair Zebra TC52x after end of sale?
Yes. Red Barcode Planet repairs TC52x mobile computers regardless of Zebra's end-of-sale status. End of sale means Zebra stopped manufacturing the device — it does not affect our ability to repair it. We have parts inventory and repair capability for TC52x devices.
Does Zebra still support the TC52x?
Zebra's service and support (OneCare) continues until December 31, 2029, despite the October 2025 end of sale. After December 2029, all Zebra manufacturer support ends. Red Barcode Planet's independent repair is not affected by Zebra support timelines.
How long can I keep running my TC52x fleet?
As long as devices remain repairable and economically viable relative to replacement cost. We assess every device honestly — if repair is not cost-effective, we tell you and charge nothing.
What happens to TC52x repair after Zebra's support ends in December 2029?
Red Barcode Planet will continue repairing TC52x devices after Zebra's support end date, as long as parts remain sourceable. We have repaired legacy Motorola and Intermec devices years after manufacturer support ended.
Can you repair TC52x devices in bulk?
Yes. For larger batches, contact us before shipping so we can confirm turnaround timeline based on batch size and current shop capacity: 773-732-9018. Fleet discounts apply: 10–19 units receive 10% off.
Is my TC52x covered under OneCare if I also use Red Barcode Planet?
Using an independent repair shop does not automatically void OneCare. However, if your device is currently within OneCare coverage, using RBP for a specific repair means that repair is not covered under OneCare. Contact Kris to discuss the best approach: 773-732-9018.
Prefer to replace rather than repair? We also sell refurbished Zebra TC52x units — fully tested with a 90-day warranty, typically 40–60% less than new. Buy a refurbished Zebra TC52x →
